Engineers' Week

About Engineers' Week
Engineers' Week, hosted annually by the JIE in September, is the premier national event for Jamaica’s engineering fraternity. It functions as a mixture of a professional conference, a public exhibition, and an educational campaign.

Core Purpose & Objectives
The overarching goal of Engineers’ Week is to advance the engineering profession and align it with Jamaica's national development strategies. Its core objectives include:
-
Knowledge Exchange: Providing a unified platform for local and international engineers, researchers, planners, academics, and industry heads to discuss cutting-edge technical breakthroughs, policies, and research.
-
National Problem Solving: Addressing severe local issues regarding climate change, sustainable infrastructure development, and technology integration (such as Artificial Intelligence). Recent themes have explicitly emphasized "Engineering Innovation: Building a Sustainable Future for Jamaica."
-
Advocacy & Public Awareness: Educating the public and government officials on the critical role engineers play in economic growth, public safety, and building resilient communities.
