Portfolio Responsibilities
President
1.Steer and manage the Direction and Objectives of the JIE. 2.Monthly report to the JIE Council on the activities of the President. 3.Preside at all Ordinary and General Meetings of the Council.
President-Elect
1.Leads the Annual Awards Ceremony Planning Committee and responsible for implementation of the Awards function. 2.Lead any Special Projects of the JIE as requested by the President of the JIE.
Immediate Past President
1.Supports the President and Council in planning and implementation of JIE Council activities 2.Acts as liaison support to the President and Council regarding plans and Programmes that were being implemented during the previous Council Year. 3.Provide a Report on the proceedings of the Annual JIE Awards & Dinner Function of the previous Council Year. 4.Lead any Special Projects of the JIE as requested by the President of the JIE.
Honorary Secretary
1.Conduct the correspondences of the Institution, inclusive of notices of meetings, other matters as may be decided by Council 2.Give Notices to the members of all Ordinary meetings Council meetings, Special meetings and Annual General meetings, 3.Attend all meetings of the Institution, and of Council, and of Committees. 4.Take minutes of the proceedings of Council meetings and keep a permanent record thereof, read all minutes and communications that may be ordered to be read and superintend the publication of such papers and publications as the Council may direct. 5.Act as custodian of all official records of the Institution. 6.Engage and be responsible for all persons employed as servants of the Institution (E.g. members of the Secretariat, Auditors, Legal Counsel, etc.) 7.Generally conduct the ordinary business of the Institution under the direction of Council. 8.Maintain a Registry of membership of the Institution 9.Maintain a Registry of JIE Members serving on public boards and committees
Honorary Treasurer
1.Keep the books of Accounts of the Institution, 2.Issue notices of Fees and Subscriptions payable and be responsible for the collection thereof, 3.Disburse funds at the direction of the Council only 4.Has responsibility to Council for all assets, Liabilities and Property of the Institution. 5.Prepare the Balance Sheet and Financial Report for presentation at the Annual General meeting, 6.Has responsibility for obtaining from the Auditors an audited 7.Balance Sheet and Financial Report and 8.Provide Council with Direct reports on the financial condition of the 9.Institution at such times as required.
Secretariat
1.Collection and collation of Monthly reports of Council Meetings 2.Collection and collation of Reports for input into the Annual Report of Council to be presented that Annual General Meetings of the Jamaica Institution of Engineers. 3.Administrative work of the Council 4.Issue General Notices and correspondences to the General JIE Membership. 5.Provide support to events
1.Preside at Ordinary and General Meetings of the Council in the absence of the President. 2.Prepare and submit a Plan of activities for Marketing and Publication activities for consideration and approval by the Council. 3.Prepare and submit a financial budget for the slate of Activities of the Marketing & Publications portfolio 4.Collect, collate information. Maintain JIE websites, social media channels, and any other publications 5.Provide monthly reports to Council of the portfolio. 6.Obtain sponsorship, invite speakers and convene Developers’ Forum of the JIE. 7.Recruit and lead a Committee in preparation of the JIE’s Annual Engineers Week. 8.Seek and obtain position papers and publications from persons and industry players within the Engineering Community
Vice President - Marketing & Publications
1.Preside at Ordinary and General Meetings of the Council in the absence of the President. 2.Prepare and submit plan of activities of the Council year for consideration and approval by the Council. 3.Prepare and submit a financial budget for the slate of Activities of the portfolio 4.Provide monthly reports to Council of the Engineering Affairs portfolio. 5.Provides guidance and support to various Divisions 6.Provides support to Developers Forum planning and execution
Vice President - Engineering Affairs
1.Preside at Ordinary and General Meetings of the Council in the absence of the President. 2.Prepare and submit plan of activities of the Council year for consideration and approval by the Council. 3.Prepare and submit a financial budget for the slate of Activities of the Partnership & Education portfolio 4.Cultivate relationships and Partner with and support Institutions, Businesses, and local entities to promote the development and execution of Engineering Education outreach programs and activities in Jamaica. 5.Cultivate relationships and Partner with international engineering organizations to promote the development of engineering in Jamaica and globally. 6.Provide monthly reports to Council of the portfolio 7.Career Day outreach to Students in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions
Vice President - Partnership & Education
Divisional Chair - Civil
1.Reports to the Vice President – Engineering Affairs 2.Liaison with the Civil Engineering Fraternity 3.Recruit from General JIE membership and Civil Engineering fraternity membership to support the business of the Division. 4.Respond to and facilitate JIE Council position on Civil Engineering 5.Matters of National concern 6.Facilitate the promotion and preparation of seminars, workshops and field trips of a Civil Engineering nature. 7.Meet with members of the Divisional Committee at least once (1) 8.per Quarter of the designated Council Year. 9.Acts as Liaison between the JIE and close contact with GOJ and other Civil Engineering entities in the local industry 10.Collects and disseminates information (articles, workshop proceedings, etc.) to General JIE membership of current international & local Civil Engineering trends. 11.Review , amend and/or revoke the Rules the Division in consultation and with approval of the Council 12.Seek and recruit membership of Engineers to join the JIE.
Divisional Chair - Electrical
1.Reports to the Vice President – Engineering Affairs 2.Liaison with the Industry players and members of the Electrical Engineering Fraternity 3.Recruit from General JIE membership and Electrical Engineering fraternity membership to support the business of the Division. 4.Respond to and facilitate JIE Council position on Electrical Engineering Matters of National concern. 5.Facilitate the promotion and preparation of seminars, workshops and field trips of an Electrical Engineering nature. 6.Meet with members of the Electrical Engineering Divisional Committee at least once (1) per quarter of the designated Council Year. 7.Acts as Liaison between the JIE and close contact with GOJ and other Electrical Engineering entities in the local industry 8.Collects and disseminates information (articles, workshop proceedings, etc.) to General JIE membership of current international & local Electrical Engineering trends. 9.Review, amend and/or revoke the Rules the Division in consultation and with approval of the Council 10. Seek and recruit membership of Engineers to join the JIE.
Divisional Chair - Mechanical
1.Reports to the Vice President – Engineering Affairs 2.Liaison with the Industry players and members of the Mechanical Engineering Fraternity 3.Recruit from General JIE membership and Mechanical Engineering fraternity membership to support the business of the Division. 4.Respond to and facilitate JIE Council position on Mechanical Engineering Matters of National concern 5.Facilitate the promotion and preparation of seminars, workshops and field trips of a Mechanical Engineering nature. 6.Meet with members of the Mechanical Engineering Divisional Committee at least once (1) per quarter of the designated Council Year. 7.Acts as Liaison between the JIE and close contact with GOJ and other Mechanical Engineering entities in the local industry 8.Collects and disseminates information (articles, workshop proceedings, etc.) to General JIE membership of current international & local Mechanical Engineering trends. 9.Review , amend and/or revoke the Rules the Division in consultation and with approval of the Council 10. 1.Reports to the Vice President – Engineering Affairs 2.Liaison with the Industry players and members of the Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering Fraternity 3.Recruit from General JIE membership and Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering fraternity membership to support the business of the Division. 4.Respond to and facilitate JIE Council position on Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering Matters of National concern 5.Facilitate the promotion and preparation of seminars, workshops and field trips of an Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering nature. 6.Meet with members of the Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering Divisional Committee at least once (1) per quarter of the designated Council Year. 7.Acts as Liaison between the JIE and close contact with GOJ and other Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering entities in the local industry 8.Collects and disseminates information (articles, workshop proceedings, etc.) to General JIE membership of current internationally & local Aeronautical, Agricultural, Chemical & Industrial (AACI) Engineering trends. 9.Review , amend and/or revoke the Rules the Division in consultation and with approval of the Council 10. Ordinary Members
