CIVIL & ACMIE Division Application of Technology Seminar The Civil/ACMIE Division of the JIE will be hosting a presentation on “The Application of Technology in Infrastructure Design and Construction” on Thursday March 31, 2011 at the offices of the JIE beginning at 6:00pm.
The Presentation will be spearheaded by Eng. Albert Gillings, PE, MBA, MJIE who is a Civil Engineer at Mott MacDonald. He also holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester (UK).
ACMIE & Civil Division Safety Seminar The ACMIE Division along with the Civil Division of the JIE will be hosting a safety seminar titled “Confined Space (Including Excavations) Work Practices” on Wednesday February 16, 2011 at the JIE office on 2 Winchester Road Kingston 10 beginning at 6:00pm. The Presentation will be done by Mr. Aldane Stennet who is a Chemical Engineer and also a Health, Safety, Security & Environment Professional at the Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd. Please find below some of the areas that will be covered in the presentation.
Building Code of Jamaica - Training Program The University of Technology, Jamaica (Utech) is currently training persons in the construction industry in the application of the new National Building Code of Jamaica. They would like to offer the training to relevant staff of the professional institutions.The training programme will entail modules covering the following international Codes:Building, Plumbing, Property Maintenance, Energy Conservation, Private Sewage Disposal Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Fire.The Jamaica Standard of Small Building Code and Application Document for the Residential Code and the Jamaica Application Document for the International Code Council Electrical Administrative Provisions and Electrical Code. The per person cost for each module is $35,000. Utech is aware of the important role that the JIE plays in the construction industry and would therefore like to include our members in the first batch of trainees for the code. The JIE will be hosting live ASCE webinars to provide live interactive learning experiences. ASCE webinars are completed in a short period of time usually 60-90 minutes. JIE Seminars are now open to registration, select the seminar / seminars (see link below) that you are interested in and e-mail the JIE secretariat at jie@cwjamaica.com with you're name and the seminar of interest. KITTY BROOKS RETIREMENT FUND MEMBERS,
Ms. Rosalind "Kitty" Brooks has been retired from the JIE and as such an account was opened to
accomodate donations geared towards her retirement package.
